Are "the cool chicks" ruining feminism?
Have you ever tried to be "one of the guys"?
You know, acting like they do, being the cool chick who's totally fine with all the jokes, talking like them, partying with them... Well, a lot of the women in tech I talk to use this tactic to fit in the workplace. They tell themselves that this is the best option to get along and get the work done. I know I've been guilty of that.
But as I started looking deeper into what drove me to act like the guys, I found that what I was really doing was keeping the status quo intact. Acting like one of the guys tells these men that the only women who should be accepted and listened to are the ones that conform to THEIR ways to doing things.
Women who rely on being "one of the guys" actually make it harder for the rest of us who just want to be ourselves. It makes it harder to introduce new ideas to the workplace, harder to add diversity to the industry, and harder for all women to be heard and accepted.
Now, imagine being able to show up at work as your true self and be completely accepted just as you are. Imagine being heard and having your ideas acknowledged and praised. Think about the relaxed and easy feeling that comes from doing something you absolutely love surrounded by people who are just as happy to be there and excited to share that enthusiasm with you.
This is possible for you and it's easier than you think.
You CAN leave your job even if you're worried about money. You CAN have more freedom. You CAN be surrounded my like-minded accepting people. You CAN live the life you daydream about... and it can happen now.
So if you're ready to map out a path OUT of your job, and get started on the journey to a life of wealth, freedom, acceptance, and FUN...
PS: I just created the GTFO Facebook Group as a place for you to connect with like-minded women and ask your questions directly to me in a safe and welcoming space. So join the party HERE and get ready to GTFO!
